As you are aware modern consoles all depend on AMD’s silicon to push frames so the announcement from 4A GAMES that Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition will support ray tracing on consoles also reveals that a fancy new Big Navi card will too. The original release did support ray tracing but only on NVIDIA’s Turing GPUs so the additional support may convince some to fire up the game again. The other good news is that if you already own Metro Exodus on Epic Games Store Steam or GoG you will get the Enhanced Edition added for free.
Apart from ray tracing 4A Games will bring a new version of the game for PC. It will be an Enhanced Edition of Metro Exodus.
The developer also revealed free upgrades are coming soon to the 2019 shooter for PC players. They will also arrive for the next-gen consoles. And there’s also the support for Nvidia’s DLSS 2.0 technology on PC.
4A say that the Metro Exodus PC enhanced edition will launch on Steam GOG and the Epic Games Store sometime this spring free for current Exodus owners.

“We have built an all-new Fully Ray Traced Lighting Pipeline that brings a number of optimizations upgrades and new features to the Ray Traced Global Illumination and Emissive Lighting that we pioneered with the original release of Metro Exodus as well as an upgraded implementation of our powerful Temporal Reconstruction technology to further boost resolution visual detail and performance. And we’ve pushed these enhancements to the limit to take advantage of the latest Ray Tracing capable GPU hardware from NVIDIA and AMD to create the ultimate version for our PC enthusiast fans.”
Meanwhile the developer has also detailed the improvements coming with the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S versions of the game which will be available free to existing owners. On PS5 and Series X the game will run at 4K/60fps with ray tracing. Series S will target a lower 1080p resolution but it’ll still run at 60fps and feature ray tracing. The next-gen console versions should also feature reduced loading times and other platform-specific features like support for the PS5’s Dual Sense controller.
Along with that there are also plans to launch the game on Mac and Linux platforms. While the Mac version is coming next month itself the Linux variant will come a bit late.
